Venue: Bishops Stortford College Sports Hall

Our Senior Academy was set up last year to support our ‘elite juniors’ as they transition to adult cricket.

This initiative will bring together our strongest u15-u17 players, who aspire to play at senior 1^st and 2^ndXI level.

The aim of the programme is to develop not only the players technical ability, but also focus on the mental side of the game in order to make the right decisions.

In what will be a ‘positive’ and ‘challenging’ environment, this crop of young cricketers will drive each other forward and can explore and discover solutions to new situations together.

Max age is Under 17.

Cost – £325 to cover all 9 weeks of sessions (2 hour session)

Your Senior Academy Head Coach

Head coach – Ben Twohig

Level 2 Coach and ex-professional cricketer, specialising in Batting and Spin Bowling.

Ben spent 6 winters as a professional cricketer for Worcestershire and knows exactly ‘how’ to improve players during the off season. Players need to ‘hit the ground running’ and be ready for the 2026 Summer season!

Your Senior Academy Coach

Coach – THILAN WALALLAWITA

THILAN was born in Sri Lanka and has made over 30 first team appearances for Middlesex CCC.

Thilan is left arm spinner who entered the Middlesex Academy via their age-group set-up.
He later earned his first professional contract in 2020 after finishing the 2019 season as the leading wicket taker in the Second Eleven Championship.

He has made 15 appearances in the T20 blast.

Ben has a great ability to simplify his coaching messages and deliver them in a way that younger players can easily understand. Even after only a few coaching sessions my son made a lot of progress in areas he had struggled with previously. From a parents perspective Ben also gave detailed feedback after coaching sessions which helped keep focus afterwards.

Ben’s coaching has helped make my batting bowling and fielding come on leaps and bounds over the summer and winter by learning, practicing and implementing different skills. My game has majorly improved with the help of his coaching along with whoever else is with him helping out.

My daughter Mattie has been having lessons with Ben for over 6 months now. Ben is a brilliant coach and Mattie loves his lessons. He makes them fun but challenging - he has a great way of being positive and encouraging but also stretching her too. Ben’s passionate and energetic approach to coaching and his in-depth technical cricketing knowledge has helped many players in various junior age groups, whether it be via the group sessions or individual 1-1’s. His coaching program has also helped to form a vital connection between the junior section and the adult teams, giving the kids something to clearly aim for in the future.
